To vaccinate your child or not can be a very controversial decision. Antivaxxers believe parents should have the final say when it comes to the health of their baby. And technically, medical exemptions are permitted in all 50 states and Washington DC. Still, the official recommendation from the American Academy of Pediatrics is that all children should be vaccinated. And the majority of states have passed legislation to support the latter stance, including California, Mississippi and West Virginia—states which have even gone so far as to say that unvaccinated children will have to be homeschooled except in the event of serious illness.
