ALTON — May is Mental Health Month, a time to better understand how important mental health is to an individual’s overall wellbeing.
OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony’s Health Center is calling on the community to recognize the mind and body connection. One in five American adults are living with a diagnosable, treatable mental health condition.
“It’s important to really look at our overall health, both physical and mental to achieve a state of wellness,” said Susanne Ringhausen, manager of OSF Psychological Services. “Finding the right balance of exercise, nutrition, sleep, and stress reduction helps to keep us both physically and mentally healthy.”
As part of the Mental Health Month recognition, the clinical team of OSF Psychological Services has scheduled a series of free, confidential depression and anxiety screenings. The first screening takes place on Tuesday, May 15, from 10 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m., at OSF PromptCare in Godfrey. Appointments are preferred, but walk-in appointments will be accepted.
