It seems being the most famous pregnant woman on the planet comes with a price. Against her wishes, a pregnant Kate Middleton was photographed in her bikini while on vacation in the Caribbean with her husband, Prince William. Now, the palace is speaking out against the publication of the baby bump revealing shots.
"We are disappointed that photographs of the Duke and Duchess on a private holiday look likely to be published overseas. This is a clear breach of the couple’s right to privacy," said a spokesman for the couple according to People magazine.
The personal pictures were taken from far away and capture the Duchess in a two-piece bathing suit in the ocean, as well as the royal parents-to-be strolling together on the beach. The same European magazine that published topless photos of Middleton previously is set to share the vacation shots. People also reported that an American tabloid is planning to publish the controversial photos.
While I can’t deny that my curiosity is piqued, it does seem unfair that famous people can be photographed against their wishes. Pregnancy is such a special, emotional time, and I feel for Kate Middleton in this situation. She should be able to reveal her baby bump in a time and place of her choosing.
But nothing about the Duchess of Cambridge’s pregnancy has played out the way she intended. It was reported that the princess did not want to announce she was having a baby as soon as she did. Unfortunately, Middleton had to be hospitalized for severe morning sickness during her first trimester and a hospital stay is not the kind of thing one can keep under the radar as a member of the British Monarchy.
Do you think the photos of Middleton’s bikini clad baby bump should be published against her wishes?
