Thousands of young Americans take their own lives each year.
One organization is trying to stop that and they are using the month of May to do it.
“It gives the opportunity to talk a lot about signs and symptoms but also what to do next,” said Michele Brown with the Clarity Child Guidance Center.
After reaching out to their pediatrician the Clarity Child Guidance Center is one of the resources where they can turn. Their website that can be very helpful is called 1 in 5 minds, which represents in 1 in 5 kids that have an emotional behavioral or mental illness.
In Bexar County alone that adds up to 80,000 kids. A possibly more alarming statistics is that only 1 in 5 of those kids actually reach out to get help.
