WASHINGTON (WUSA9) – It’s official. A brother and sister will belong to a new home this Saturday.
Jamahri, 6, and Janihya, 4, will be legally adopted by Karen Scott. The children call her “grandma” and will take her last name.
For more than three years, the children have already been under Scott’s care as foster children. The siblings represent the 1,000 children in the D.C. foster care system.
“I just love kids. I just love them to death. And they seem to love me,” Scott said.
Scott has two adult, biological children and grandchildren. Meanwhile, the legal secretary continues to give other children a better life. Twenty years ago, she started to work as a foster mom. Her Southeast Washington home is filled with pictures of family and friends.
