SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Fentanyl is now considered by doctors as the deadliest drug in America.

The CDC said fentanyl was responsible for more than 18,000 drug overdose deaths in the U.S. in 2016, about 2,000 more than heroin. Hampden County District Attorney Anthony Gulluni told 22News more drugs are being laced with fentanyl than ever before.

“We’re seeing this in substantial quantities in western Massachusetts and very often it’s coming in mixtures, so people are buying what they believe is heroin pure heroin, but dealers are mixing fentanyl in somewhere…
